Default Saving Storage Space - Twinstore

For every CD that is being ripped into the system, there are 2 copies .. a FLAC as well as a MP3 version.

For those who do not need to export the MP3 files into their iPods, iTunes, etc, these files occupy precious storage space. Up to as much as 25% - 30%.

If one wants to claim back these previous storage space in one's Twinstore, C15, or ... go to the "Export" tab and check "None". Automatically, the MP3 (which was checked before this) will be "Unchecked" and when you hit "Apply", the system will clean up all the MP3 files off your collection.

Effectively, this will mean you are now freeing up space, as well as knowing there will never be a MP3 copy of the same CD you ripped into Sooloos. Do please allow some hours, or even a day (if you have a huge library) to let the system work on this.

When its done, re-boot Sooloos, go to "Information", and you will see that your storage space has now increased.

Well, I claimed back some 300+ GB of space today. Thats a lot, as its 2 CDs an average to 1GB.

Hope this is useful info.

Cheers!

But Jerry, you can store the MP3 in an external hard disk (i.e. not on the twinstore) which is a cheap and effective way to handle the MP3 without wasting space on the twinstore.

Yes, you can do that.

I did it my way thru iTunes.

What I am saying is, by DEFAULT, the Sooloos keeps 2 copies. You need to disable this to save space on your Twinstore. Hope this explains.

Cheers!
