Default Cleaning CDs

I was wondering what CD/optical disc cleaning fluids/accessories folks use. I haven't used any as i have always been wary of such tweaks. But I figured if record cleaning is a must why should the same not hold true for CDs? Open to all comments/suggestions (for and against CD cleaning). Thanks very much.

Cyril.....I don't use these all the time but when used they provide good results. There are many out there to choose from. Here are mine; Optrix and Shine - Ola. At one time Shine - Ola was made by Record Research Lab for Mobile Fidelity. I think now it's just Mobile Fidelity. I don't use these products everytime I play a disc, only when they skip, or appear dirty such as those at used cd/lp stores. Probably best to leave new disc alone.

For CDs that are new and in good condition, my best advice is leave them alone.

If you are talking about those that are visibly dirty and have fingerprints, a very small amount of non-oily liquid soap and water works quite well (I use Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap). Dry them with a lint-free cloth, preferably one of the microfiber cleaners.

I use this at the moment. It worked well but then I haven't used any other products before this.

X2 with woodlander, very warm water along with very sudsy microfiber, works great.Do keep an eye on the center hole area, sometimes the water gets caught a little and you have to squeeze it out between fibercloth and hands, rinse thoroughly/dry.

I also use Shine Ola. I get mine from Music Direct.
When you purchase 2 or more the price drops from $24.99 to $20.00 ea.
They include a small micro-fiber cleaning cloth with every bottle.
Shipping is fairly fast by UPS ground.
MUSICDIRECT - MOBILE FIDELITY - MFSL SHINE OLA CD CLEANER

It cleans very well and there is a subtle sonic improvement to CD's and DVD's.
