Yes........ leaning towards the DP-430 to match the E-270 now that I understand its DSD capability. Am just entering the 'digital world' (other than spinning CDs/SACDs) and will start by ripping CDs to a HD over the next several months. Then will learn to do the same with SACDs. One step at a time.

Ripping CDs is easy but boring . However, I'm not too sure of any easy way to rip the SACD layer. I think others on the forum can give some advice on that. I know it's possible with specific equipment, or you can send it out to be done. Honestly, I just ripped the CD layer on the hybrid discs when I first did my library.

That's my plan, as well. Go the easy route to start.

Terry - thanks. I'll bookmark that for further reading when I get to SACDs.

Hi Brian - what are your thoughts after a couple of weeks of 'run time' on your DP-430?

Excellent. Looking forward to same

That's quite the set of Esoteric ICs you are running between the DP-430 & E-270. Did not realize they offered ICs. I'll be breaking-in a new set of WW Gold 7s while the E-270 is breaking in, so any changes will be a combination of both.

I never did see the update. What are your thoughts on the 430 for CD playback...as well as DSD thru USB?

Unfortunately, I was never able to find the time to write up a proper update. I still have my DP-430 and think it's a great unit. CD playback is excellent along with using the digital coax in from my Sonos to the DAC section (which I use most of the time for audio playback). I don't really have any DSD files so I can't give too much of an opinion other than it works and the few songs I have sounded great. I have the USB connected to my MacBook Pro and it works flawlessly.

If you don't need SACD playback and want an Accuphase player, I would highly recommend considering the DP-430. Especially since the price isn't too outrageous.
