Default Garage storage ideas

We will be moving into our newest home in August. I need ideas for garage storage - nothing over the top but tasteful. It is a typical suburbia two car garage.

Go to your local Industrial cabinet maker. Every city has at least a couple. (You can find out who made your custom cabinets just by opening a drawer and look for a brand or a stamp on the side.)
Ask them if you can take a look in their Boneyard.
The boneyard is where they put the mistakes. Some have flaws as minor as a custom piece being 2" short.
Get to know the guy that runs the place. This will come in handy down the road.

What are your plans, one or two car storage as well as tools?

A workshop?

Do you routinely wrench on your cars?

I think a lot of stuff (not everything) people want to store in the garage should be temporarily stored in a trash can ready to go to the curb!

Mainly yard tools (I have a craftsman tool cart), car care items, yard/plant upkeep, household items etc. A couple of stand up cabinets and a couple of wall cabs + bench. I do need to keep my cars within the garage too.

We went with the GarageTek system - cabinets and flooring. Our garage is now another room.

They are called GARBAGE CANS. Get rid of stuff you "store" keep only what you use.
