Default Alpha digital

I am quite amazed at the improvements the Alpha digital had on the EMM labs Dac2x. This dac is pretty much in the best of the bunch. With the alpha digital What I hear is just more analogue sounding... What's amazing is it can now give my Turntable a run for its money that's saying something.

Good job Shunyata!

Glad to hear that. I had an Alpha Digital on my Bryston BDA-2 and it didn't appear to make much difference over the Cobra. However, I now have an Auralic Vega DAC and plan on testing it tonight with the Alpha Digital I have on my Oppo 103. Incidentally, the Alpha on the Oppo was a step up over the Cobra. Anyway, if it improves the Vega I guess I am out another $1K since I will need to replace the one from the Oppo. Even worse, I have no other gear I can use with the Cobra. Everything in both the two channel and HT is Shunyata Zitron.

I'm happy for you but the Alhpa ANALOG is amazing with the cd player & Dac and for me much more as the Digital version.

You are using a DAC2x + TSDX?

Harmonix, Your experience with the Alpha digital cord mirrors mine. It removed traces of hash from my PSAudio MKII DAC and transport I never realized were there. The cord acts as a conditioner when it comes to digitally produced noise; the result is far closer to vinyl than I ever thought possible. Don't know how you feed your EMM Lab DAC but the Zitron Anaconda digital IC is equally impressive in its ability to clear away and solve digitally produced distortions. Each step gets me closer to the music.

Anaconda --> triton --> alpha digital --> DAC

I have heard less clear outcomes with the IC much more obvious with the PC.

Computer -> USB -> custom made split cable with power coming from linear PSU

I agree that analog IC results are not as dramatic as PC changes, but I found SC's and digital IC's equally dramatic. That is, of course, only what I hear in my system.

Vhiner,

Exactly. However, wait until you hear your PWT/Anaconda digital and IC's with PS Audio's brand new DirectStream DAC. It totally buried my PWD MK II DAC. Worth it's weight in platinum.

As you and I have pretty similar systems built around Anaconda IC's, speaker cables, PC's, and Anaconda Digital cable, you'll go nuts over the DS DAC. A "must update" component.

Odd
