Default VX-5 release date?

Anyone know if there's a projected release date for the VX-5 yet?

From SoundStageGlobal-Doug Schneider (Jan 9th 2013)

"Ayre's North American sales manager, Alex Brinkmann, says the VX-5 will be "about $8000" when it's released later this quarter".

I was considering a pair of the McIntosh MC601 monoblock until I spoke to John Rutan, he told me that the MC601 are great amps but, will not come close to the Ayer VX-5. He said that the VX-5 new technology will make my sound quality much much better than the MC601. Any thought on this? Thanks

Base your decision on your ears, not on a statement from a Dealer who sells Ayre products and not McIntosh products.....

There is nothing wrong with McIntosh, however there is other equipment in the same price range or slightly higher which is better. Based on the rugged build and resale, you still cannot go wrong with McIntosh.

You need to listen; however, John is a known straight shooter. I have an Ayre stack largely with his help - and he did not sell them to me!

So far I give him an A+.

ayre dx-5, kxr, mxr, Vandersteen 5A, marantz 8801, Vandersteen vcc-5, Vandersteen vsm sig

I had Mac 501's

Switched speakers from Sonus Faber Amati to Vandersteen 5a, thus the front end changes

I think speaker/electronics synergy is key

Vandersteen and ayre, AR ect

If I had B&W I would go Mac

ayre dx-5, kxr, mxr, Vandersteen 5A, marantz 8801, Vandersteen vcc-5, Vandersteen vsm sig

Has anyone received a VX-5 yet? Any comments on it? I have one ordered, which should arrive next week. I already added it to my signature... I am pretty pumped! I will be using it with my Ref5se. I will be likely adding the matching preamp if/when it comes out.
