My Shindo Mr. T isolation transformer came in today from Pitch Perfect, and of course, it looks gorgeous!
I'll spend some time understanding what effect it has on the system but I feel a lot better having some electrical protection and isolation. ⚡️ Did I mention it looks amazing?! Last edited by junker; 10-19-2016 at 05:37 PM. |

Looks great Josh. It was a trade off for me, so I passed on it. I have dedicated lines here as well. I also had the mono CC's at the time, and I heard that 2- T's is better with monos. I only tried the 1. Love that Shindo bubble wrap. Keep us posted. Cheers -Don

Congrats !
Your speakers are Shindo Valencia ? Could we see a pic ? They look gorgeous. I have two Mr. T's in my system. One is connected to the digital components, the other is for the amps, preamp, TT and tuner. Their effect on the sound of the system is rather subtile. But you can clearly hear a step up in musicality and "relaxing" factor. I am very glad to have them.

Hello Jerome! Hope you are well. The speakers are Altec Flamenco - a sister model to the Valencia - same drivers, crossover, and similar cabinet volume but in Spanish oak instead of walnut. Sure I'll post some better pics in the daylight, but I have mint 604D's and 360L internal volume (410L external) walnut cabinets are in the works.
Yah, I can definitely understand having a 2 Mr. T set-up like how you have. I always wonder about the TT though because motors are notoriously noisy. I was wondering if maybe they would be better with the digital stuff hmm? Ok, talk to you soon. Quote:

I can understand that Don. I've heard that isolation transformers can limit dynamics is not significantly overrated. I think these are ~500VA so yah with all that gear you have I'd do two like Jerome for sure. I live in an Irvine Company Luxury apartments so there are the recessed CFLs, appliances, wifi, etc that I'd want to filter the noise from. And I just want piece of mind too. Two of my good friends have had electrical related issues in winter over the past couple years...one guy lives on the coastline though but still. My amp doesn't even draw an amp so I feel pretty good and it was sounding really nice earlier.

Here you go Jerome!
On a Mr. T note to not go too far off topic I'm playing a super early Japanese 1983 Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain on Spanish Oak Flamenco and it sounds superb. I'm certainly happy with the quality after adding the Mr. T. At the very least I can be sure I'm not loosing anything. Sounds maybe like how your system can sound late at night. Do you leave the Mr. T on all the time, or do you turn on/off your system from the Mr. T? Last edited by junker; 10-21-2016 at 09:57 PM. Reason: Added Stock Photos |

Very nice !!
I still wonder how this beautiful grille can be acoustically transparent ! I turn off the Mr. Ts when I do not listen to the system. 2 buttons turn off everything. I do no think that there could be any gain to let them on all the time.
