You sold your 150 to some poor chap, so now its time to move on. You're obviously very unhappy with ARC and bad smells and warped plexiglass. Time to move to another brand perhaps?

Not directed at you, Mike: Play with the big dogs, or stay on the porch!

For me, break in is like an Advent calendar. Every day brings a new surprise!

Poor chap right here listening to his new Ref 150 and loving every second.

Thanks Banter for the quick shipping and great packaging, above and beyond.

Congrats. Any strange odor or just sweet music?

I hate to get into personal details on an Audio forum, but feel we are all friends here. So here goes..

Wife runs a home based Yoga Studio. She buys everything organic, does not use microwave oven, no scented detergents, no perfumes. She does not like anything electrical, will not wear a quartz watch.

Now a sensitive person like that can easy smell those transformers when on for a few hours and especially when new.

She was feeling nauseating from that smell. So I felt why make her feel so miserable, So I sold the Ref150.

Does that make sense to you, Mike?

Read this:

http://www.audioaficionado.org/audio...ref-150-a.html

Mike I hope you can except the fact that Ref150 is not for everyone with 600 hours of burn in requirement.

I am also glad you were not around when I started the thread on how hot the Ref5se gets and warps the Plexiglas cover and the cheap plastic remote.

ARC reacted fast and released the metal remote and top cover.

So, Mike please let people express their opinion and of course you are free to do the same
1) the metal cover was always an option in the Ref5, they just recommend it for better sound
2) The cheap remote control has been there since the start and the metal one is for the new REF series
3) your wife's sensitivity was your departure not
You so I forgive you , HaHaHa.
If you decide on owning the REF75 I recommend
you to buy a used one with the burn In process
over.
And please understand that here we are ARC lovers maybe in the same way you love your wife.
Best wishes,
Nelson

My recurrent advice - use the services of a good dealer. I am sure that any good dealer would carry the burn-in of a new amplifier if the client would be disturbed by the scent of the new amplifier. I have a good friend who always buys used cars because the smell of new cars causes him nausea.

Second advice - ask this fantastic forum before taking any decision, not after ...
