They are outstanding amps. I am partial to the Krell sound, and seeing this is a predominantly McIntosh forum I would not expect much love for them do to they are on opposite sides of the spectrum sound wise. Yes the stuff is excessively priced but you will find a few people as my self who start with the s1000 and EVO400 and work there way up. I doubt Transparent users start with the Opus MM2 stuff, they build up to it in time. I find the EVO707 and EVO600 combo to be very accurate and have endless amounts of headroom, as you keep turning it up you start to hear where all your money was spent. Dan......I agree with you when you say there are many great amps in that price range, but I would consider the EVO stuff amongst them.

Lou.......I don't want to leave the impression that I am hammering Krell. It is a premium audio manufacturer, with a long line of loyal and satisfied owners. I have a good friend who owns a pair of older Krell 350MCX monoblocks and Krell KCT preamp to drive B&W 802D's. He sold Krell for an audio dealer for years, and has tried many times through the years to get me to change from McIntosh to Krell. Like you said, Krell and McIntosh are from the opposite sides of the spectrum, and I find myself equally satisfied with McIntosh as he is with Krell.
I have always admired the Krell looks, especially their older amplifiers, and have auditioned many through the years thanks to my friend trying so hard to get me to buy Krell from him. Ultimately, it comes down to personal taste, and mine is clearly in the McIntosh camp.

I wish I could listen to the Krell Evolution 302e, Phantom combo somewhere here in Norway. I kind of stumbled upon it and I fell in love with the looks. I have a MA7000 right now and cant help thinking I want to upgrade to a preamp, poweramp combo. I love the sound (and looks) of my Mc, so a good listen to the Krell's would be important for me.
Anyways Ill have to wait until they start popping up on eBay or other used electronics sites. If you think the Krell's are expensive in the US, try norwegian prices. Insane.
