Sirius Satellite Radio-Be Careful

I recently turned my wifes car back on lease and called to cancel the satellite radio subscription. Once Sirius has your credit card number they do automatic renewal and it is impossible to cancel. I sat on hold for over a half hour on 2 separate occasions and could not get anyone in the cancellation department to answer the phone. Amazingly when you call and say you are a new customer and want to activate a new account someone comes on the phone within a minute. When you try to explain the problem with the hold purgatory trying to cancel your account they lie to you. "Sir we are very sorry....Let me put you through myself ...you will only be on hold for 2 tops 3 minutes and I will be right back to you." Guess what they never come back to you. If your going to sign up for sirius satellite radio be careful to use a pre paid credit card so they can not hit you with a automatic renewal after the car and radio are long gone. This company has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

This strategy or method of response does not surprise me AT ALL. These tactics create such a brutal consumer experience. Lease returns should be all encompassing.

Sounds as bad as trying to cancel a magazine subscription.

David.......Just the opposite of my experience. When I bought the Jaguar XF I contacted Sirius and subscribed for two years in advance. Six months later I traded the Jag when I bought the King Ranch Expedition. One call was all it took to cancel the Jaguars ESNR #, and transfer the remaining time to the Expedition. On top of that, Ford had six months of free Sirius, so the remaining part of the Jaguar's subscription time did not begin until the six months free subscription had passed. The young lady who helped me was courteous, and handled everything with the one call.

With Marlene's new F150 pickup truck I set up Sirius for her with quarterly billing for a one year subscription. She pays by check once every three months, and can cancel at anytime.

Dan transferring the account from one car to another is not a problem, cancelling all together is the problem. I just filed a complaint with the better buisness bureau and the american express credit card company. Just for fun try cancelling nobody will pick up the phone.

Thats even worse! Their website seems under construction permanently! They make it hard to cancel.

Try dealing with xbox live, Linksys, Hp, etc., etc.... good customer service is getting harder and harder to get, especially on a consistent basis. I try to alway stroke the company's that treat me well. Those few deserve it.

I had the exact same experience. Thirty minutes on hold to cancel. I wonder if XM does the same.

It would be great if you could cancel online but that is not an option. All you can do is sign up online.
