I just keep coming back to this thread to look at those Lafites. There is something about them that is so esthetically pleasing to me.

Doug, how about a couple close-ups of both the speakers and the turntable.

Many thanks for sharing your great review, us Shindoists all crave any feedback and info we can get on this esoteric gear.

Doug great looking system, if you don't mind me saying.... you may want to think about upgrading your Dyna 20x cart, I think its the weakest link in our system and you won't be able to realize the full potential of your Shindo gear and wonderful speakers. Just my 2 cents.

Wow - SD and Loop. Very beautiful. Bill, your shots of your pair have me drooling - wowza! I don't think this is a stretch to say, but they must be even more pleasing to the eye in person. Your photo is sweet, but the reality must be sweeter!

Congrats to you both, and thanks for the info about your system Doug! Nice!!!

Hey Doug - It would seem to me that the look to be very directional, given that the driver is pretty deep in a narrow horn, with little flare. how is their sweet spot?

Bakerman. I'll try get some more photos in a bit - but how do you like Loop's Lafites? He got a custom wood veneer - they are gorgeous.

Mikeyc. Yup a cartridge is next on my list, Probably an EMT (In fact just recently I foolishly purchased a used EMT HSD-6 on Audiogon (I figured this would be a good way to try one out) it was advertised as having less than 50 hours playtime. When I had the cartridge checked by Soundsmith they said the stylus was considerably worn and needed replacing. Of course no word from the seller when I tried to get a refund)

Gort' Yeah the Lafites are quite directional, they definitely need to be pointing at you. I find them more sensitive to direction in the vertical plane rather than the horizontal plane. They don't sound so good when you're standing, but I can pretty much enjoy them from anywhere on my couch. They're not as bad as they look - I've definitely had some speakers in the past that were more sensitive to sweet spot.

Doug
