Went to the toy shop last week....
Dennis has been really tweaking the Inspire 45....
Untitled by Analog Addict, on Flickr It has an amazing amount of detail, plus really solid woofer control/damping for a single tube triode amp. Untitled by Analog Addict, on Flickr Dennis obviously is a fan..... Untitled by Analog Addict, on Flickr |

I am certainly enjoying my 45 Fire Bottle!
What do we have on the floor? |

I believe the amps on the floor are two refurbished/modded single ended EL84 stereo console amps, the Copper triode strapped gas regulated PSE prototype,
Dennis's personal FireBottle, and on the coffee table is a pair of PSE mono's...Straitwire |

A visit to Cary is a blast. Bring some toys and play with Dennis’, Tony’s and Allan’s as well.
Happy thanksgiving! |

Cleaning sockets will be on the maintenance schedule going forward. |

Thanks for that reminder. I have found that the 27/56s need cleaning to remove noise before. As I recall my 80 issues had to do with dead sections. Not sure cleaning would have solved that but maybe the pins had just lost complete contact. Next time I will double check. |

My 80 issue was a dirty socket in the preamp. I got some bristly pipe cleaners at Walgreens and they worked great with Deox.

Have there been radically different versions of the PSE amps produced over the years? If so, what were the differences in sizes, tubes, transformer layouts?

When getting mine I told Dennis I had not found a KT-88 I liked so no need to supply any. He supplied GL KT-77s instead and said it seemed like he had designed the amp around that tube they ran so well in it. As always system determinate. I am sure Tony can say more. |
