Between traffic congestion and stop-lights, this is so true. Even the upstate PA roads that were so enjoyable 30yr ago are overcrowded these days. So much so that I'm thinking (am car shopping) that a 200hp turbo-4 would be fine in lieu of a normally-aspirated 300hp V6. Especially as am only interested in an automatic.

I have had several new 911's and I no longer am a customer for a new porsche as this a pretty slow car now a days. you really have to get the revs up to 4000 rpm to get any kind of decent torque out of it. There are much better options for this price including a lightly used Ferrari, a brand new ZR1, a new Mercedes GT , a Aston Martin
I am glad I went with a 2016 CPO Turbo S. I always maintained that I didn't need all those ponies. After owning it for a few weeks, I drove a 2018 S. It was anemic at best.

The red leather and carbon fiber accents make for a stunning look. Very nice.

I traded my 991 porsche in for a 450 hp Z51 then to a Z06 with 650 hp, when I drive my friends 911 S it just feels really slow to me, no low end torque. As far as handling both cars handle well but with the tires and wider stance of the Z06 handles better than my 911 S. Once you feel what 650 lbs of torque feels like the other cars with less feel like toys.

I have gone down the power route with my old Evo and R35. Sometimes it's nice to just feel connected to the car - which is something Porsches do. I really really love how the old 987 Boxster S felt. And it was fun even when keeping to highway speeds when I drove it in Singapore.

Over in Australia, the only car that I found was still fun at the draconian speed limits was my old Fiesta ST :P

My 08 Z06 was torqy and fast.
When I traded it in for my 14 Porsche TTS, I had just a fast and quick of a car.
Different feel, but still blazing quick!
This is the best car I have ever owned!!

I have tried a lot of brands...Ferrari 360, Aston Martin V12 vantage, Viper, MB GT C, Maserati Gransport. I always come back to Porsche...it can be driven hard and has zero drama. I can’t speak to the 992...waiting to see what the GT3 version brings and not ready to commit to FI engines just yet. But currently enjoying the 2016 911R. And will also get the speedster when released. The noise, the high rev NA engine, the handling and feel, 6sp manual...all great. Definitely less torque than some of the cars listed above....but lighter and crazy fun. Good news is there are enough options out there across multiple brands to ensure everyone can find the one that fits them best.

HP numbers to boost the "ego" have become pointless and irrelevant. Jeep Trackhawk will pull the same 0-60 with the 707HP and its all wheel drive as a Z06. If that's not quite enough, for a bit more you can have a Jeep Trackhawk from Hennessy with 1000 HP and 2.8 0-60 and 10.6 quarter mile... Need I say more?
