JC VERDIER "LA PLATINE" is here !!!!
Hello my friends,
After so many years of procrastination, "the Queen" landed in my home, about a week before the delivery of the special rack I ordered to Wladek of Pro Audio Bono. Could not wait to listen to it so I set it up on my 2 Atacama racks. I could write a review, no sorry....I could write a book on what I'm hearing but I won't say a word until my friend Jean Marc comes to my home to listen to it. OK, one word : the Queen. The Platine is now officially the Queen of my system. Maybe married to the King Giscours preamp. Carts are the SPU Classic GM E MKII ( suggestion of my Shindo friends and Shane : guys you were right, the Classic straight in the MC of the Giscours is pure bliss ! ) and the Denon 103 ESC but this one will be replaced by an EMT XSD15 because Jean Constant Verdier found a problem on it and showed it to me on the oscilloscope, I can clearly hear it on the left channel. So time for the Denon to leave... Arms are SME M2-12R. The Design of the Verdier is extensively described on the Verdier site. The Platter levitates by a huge magnetic field, restrained to the area of levitation ( zero effect on the carts ) by a clever and unique magnetic circuit, with zero mechanical contact with the spindle. The TT combines this extraordinary feature with very high mass and pneumatic suspension of the plinth. The sound seems to combine actually the advantages of both common designs : suspension and high mass. This is my fifth TT in 15 years. Rega P3, LP12, Clearaudio Champion Level II, and Rega P9. The Clearaudio was sold a few months ago. The P9 will go in the second system with the 225 amp and the RS10 speakers. Special Thanks to : Patrick B., my friend who introduced me to Jean Constant that he has known for more than 20 years Keith Aschenbrenner from A23, who took near 2 hours on the phone to explain to me what the Verdier is about ( sorry but what he said has to be kept secret !) : Keith, you are a "Mensch" who suits himself with Honor and Honesty. Jean Constant Verdier : for keeping his passions ( Music and Engineering) alive, against the ignorants, the idiots, the Market, the trends..... Thanks for reading !
