Default Need to borrow a car to get my 501's or buy one

Sounds crazy right. Well I have a coup and my wife a sedan. My son's SUV is gone. I am supposed to pick up 501's next week but after looking at the box my MC252 came in there is no way 2 of these boxes will fit in either vehicle.

I will share a funny story on how a new tv caused me to sell my house. My wife and I had just moved into a house around 1992. Having lived in a condo for 6 years before we thought this house was huge at first. We decided to buy a 60 inch rear projection tv; once it was delivered we realized it was too big for our family room. We brought in a contractor to make the family room bigger but once we saw what would be involved and weighed the cost we decided to just move into a bigger house. True story as crazy as it sounds. The funny thing is once we moved again, within a few months, that 60 inch tv ended up in the basement as a video game console for my kids.

When I picked up my C220/MC252 in Tempe (we lived in Tucson, 90 mi away) we had the devil's own job getting both boxes in our Camry. I simply did not think the boxes would be that big, never thought about getting them home...almost had to drive all the way back home to get my pickup. The dealer offered to ship me the external boxes at no cost so we took out the inner boxes and they fit (just).

Nice system btw, that's exactly the same gear I want to eventually end up with (Cremona's and MCD500) Couldn't believe my eyes at first...thought I was dreaming again

I had just sold my X-3 on a Thursday then had to go and rent a Chevy Traverse for a day to pick up my 1.2ks. Poor timing.

I've got a similar story - my Nikon D300 camera cost me more than a Hasselblad! It caused me to buy all my audio gear. I noticed the D300 had an HDMI output, so figured I should finally get a big flat screen TV to display the photos. If I got a big-ass TV, I could and should finally update the audio gear from the vintage Yamaha/Infinity stuff I had since '83. Well, one thing led to another, I finally succumbed to LuFlu and am well along getting the system built out.

I barely use the TV as a slide show display because I don't have any money to travel anymore since I bought all the gear! I also have about 10 years of negatives left to scan, although the negatives aren't stored sequentially, so I'm not building slide shows until I'm done with that (sometime next decade).

I do look forward to putting some great slide shows together of all our travels and living abroad. Coordinating that with music is something that would be very cool with the Mac Mini and the right software package. At least it beats listening to a transistor radio in a chemical-filled darkroom!

I guess I could say McIntosh + Nikon: a match made in heaven!

So David, when do your 501s arrive?

David.......Damn, that's tough going. That new owner didn't waste any time getting the MC252 out of your house. The 501's are going to knock your socks off, so enjoy the anticipation. It is half the fun. Santa will be there any day now.

Funny thing, I have a pair of 501s that can be had at huge savings, a Porsche SUV that is ready and willing to hit the road with the two of them in the back to deliver them to your house 20 min later. But you already knew that.....

Let us know how your new pair sounds when you get them.
