And yes, the MC2KW is "just" 2000 watts. A meddlesome 2000 watts.

While Mc will say "oh sure you can use a 75 watt amp, how about this nice little MC275mkIV?" - but seriously... McSpeakers demand a wide throttle range. They sound the best when over-driven (read: over-driven as in tons of excess headroom, not because you are wanting to play at 124dB 24/7 - which the XRT2Ks can deliver).
H'mm interesting. I guess at this point I'll be saving up for a set of the big MC2K 2000 watt amps. I'll have to settle for the wimpy MC601's for now.

I wish you all the best, but I'm afraid to say your bottom end will lack severely. I had the opportunity to drive XRT2K's with three MC501's each; the Bass was still anemic. Until I moved up to MC1.2K's and or MC2KW's, I never knew what these line arrays were capable of.

I was told by my dealer that my MC601’s were special. Christened by Charlie Randall himself. They are guaranteed to rock my socks off! When I auditioned the XRT2K’s at the dealership a few years back that dealer was telling me the same thing. I just thought it was a match made in heaven or in this case Binghamton, NY.

Jim, how do you get to hear all these speakers? I've never heard a 2K. I'd have to buy one to hear it and it would never fit into my room. If I could choose any line array/any speaker and had a big enough room I'd go with a Genesis I in its current form. 12 12'' servo powered woofers per side and weighs in at over 2 tons! As far as the 601 being under powered, that's half the fun. The 2K's will sound wonderful with them but you will constantly be wondering how much more wonderful they will sound with 1.2kW's. Soon, you will have a pair of 1.2kW's replacing your 601's. Then you will have another pair or you may decide to go with tri-amped 601's. That's how the high end works: onward and upward forever.

I completely agree. The Genesis 1 in its latest version [the G1.2] is the one to get! Complete dipolar line source design.

You can get it in two finishes, the G1.2 [as Arnie Nudell said "the finest plantation grown rosewood in the world"] or in black carbon fiber, the G1.2 Dragon. They are only either bi-amped or tri-amped, your choice.

The ribbon midranges and tweeters are out of this world.

I know that Ivan must have visual appeal for the speaker/equipment to work for him. This is the ultimate forever system and it is so beautiful. There are 12 more servo woofers in dipole configuration in the rear, 6 on each side/channel amounting to 24 separate bass channels of amplification.

It really is the best in every respect if you have the room and money. Have you ever seen any system as beautiful?

Sorry amigo... I think you may have misunderstood our playful chiding... in no way did I want to make you defensive about the 601s. They are a fine amplifier. However, some of us have had the very fortunate pleasure to deal with the XRT2Ks first hand, which is why we state with no equivocation that these speakers like, nay, love to be driven hard.

We were merely pointing out that while it will work, you best be saving more duckets because you will certainly start to lust after more power.
