For some reason, I couldn't get one channel to play music. I'm working with Matt to trouble shoot. He has been extremely responsive and professional.

Btw, I have an Aurieges-L (new style) coming next week

So it turned out the used Shindo RCA-RCA cable was the culprit. Matt sent me a new set and all is good.

Also received the Aurieges-L.

This is my first tube amp. Does tube amp hiss a lot? My old SS Luxman also hiss, but at a very low volume. I can't hear it at all at my listening position. But I can hear the Aurieges hiss quite loudly there. Hmm.....

RCA cables are extremely fragile. I do not like them for this reason.
Tommy, good to know that you're fine now, except for the hiss.
I do not think it is normal. Shindo pre and amps are known to be very quiet.
Matt will surely solve this as well. Please keep us informed.

No there should not be a hiss. Dead silent.

Same here, dead silent...especially since I've added isolation transformers between the wall and my preamp/amp.

My Aurieges has some hiss. My volume is usually set around the 11 - 12 O clock position and I can hear a bit of hiss at the listening seat, a bit more noticeable through Phono than Line inputs. Never owned a tube amp that didn't hiss a little bit. (It lets me know my amp is alive) It certainly doesn't interfere at all with the absolutely beautiful music this little preamp makes. I wonder if hiss may be a function of the quality of the electrical source - purely conjecture on my part - I've never used my amp at another house and I can't recall if there was hiss or not when I demoed the Aurieges at ILS. I can't hear it when the music's playing, and as I said, the music sounds incredible. I haven't had too many sessions where I listened to my system without playing any music (call me strange, but I found it a little boring) so I don't worry too much about a bit of low level hiss.

Still working with Matt to figure this one out.

The hiss is not low level I'm afraid. But the loudness (for hiss that is) doesn't change regardless of volume.
