My comment was specifically talking about trade-up VR's showing up at Pitch Perfect, not on Audiogon. With Matt's program, trade-in units are fully protected with dealer warranty. Still, $12.5K for a nice condition VR on audiogon is still a good deal IMO.

Old Grey & "Junior Member" just don't seem to mix. Plus, I like Platinum status. I get free access to the clubs, I get to board before most everyone else, I ride in the best seats, and I get upgraded to first class. I suppose "Commander in Chief" gets you your own plane, but that's not my style...

I'm so tempted on that VR but would rather go through a dealer. Makes one think if we ever had to unload how hard would it be...the higher up the chain the harder to sell I'd imagine.

That dealer protection (warranty) and trade up program really makes you think twice about private party sales even with such a great discount off retail although with a VR I'm not sure there's much need for tradeup

Not to be nosey, but if you're thinking about spending the money, you may want to consider his Sinhonias instead. I've never heard the VR or the Sinhonias with the Nines (not a typical combo), but my guess would be the Sinhonias would provide a greater immediate benefit. They'll grip the base better and provide much more weight more weight than your Montille (I've found they like a bit more ummph), where the Nines may not be able to communicate as much of the additional magic the VR provides.

Also, since they are no longer available new, I'd talk with your current dealer (and or Jonathan directly) -they may be more likely to help you out if you have an issue with them.

Just a thought.

I agree with Old Grey - The Haut Brion was a huge improvement over the Montille 6v6 with my Super 8s. Much more bass, more control, more refinement, more texture.

At the level of the Cortese, Montrachet, Haut Brion the difference is more the flavor, but there is a significant step-up from the Montille to the next level of amps.

With the Nines you should really benefit from the CC-25 or Haut Brion, maybe even the Sinhonias.

Considering he is also including a 2M Shindo IC that's pretty much a steal.
