Default New SACDs announced: Rush, Yes, Allman Brothers!

Several new SACDs have been announced and are showing up on Acoustic Sounds website! The 3 new discs are Rush: Counterparts, Yes: Close to the Edge, and The Allman Brothers self titled first album. Sweet. Looks like the Rush and Yes discs will be from Audio Fidelity while the Allman Brothers Band will be a new Mobile Fidelity disc. They don't have any release dates yet, but I'll be looking forward to them. The packaging on the Audio Fidelity releases looks pretty slick as well.

Not sure how Audio Fidelity made the decision to do Counterparts....although I am a Rush fan a like that album well enough, I can think of many more that would be more anticipated by serious as well as casual fans. Anyway, when it comes to SACD, the more the merrier.

Boy am I with you on the new artist thing and I don't even like most of the new artists out there. I really think that it would do wonders for the format as well as the audio hobby in general to promote SACD by not rehashing the typical discs we've all bought over and over again. Some albums I'd love to see in SACD (and not necessarily my favorites, but one's that would promote the format) would be:

Pearljam 10, Coldplay, Radiohead's OK Computer, More of the Aerosmith catalog, Bruce Springsteen's The River and Born to Run, Van Halen 1984 and 5150, The Eagles, and how bout some Wilco in SACD.

Seems like Steve Hoffmann is doing the Yes "Close to the edge"! Good news indeed.
It's scheduled for December 2012, but I guess it'll be delayed, as he hasn't even started on the job yet!

Absolutely! Pearl Jam on SACD! Dreamtheater! Trans-Siberian Orchestra??

Even new pop music like "The Band Perry", Adele, and Coldplay

A AF subscriber here - I just receive whatever they send & for the most part have been happy with the selections. There is sooooo much good music out there, Marshall Blonstein tries to get the best of the bunch.

Best

Bob

The 1st Allman Brothers disc is on the way from Music Direct, I'm looking forward to how they've done with the sound on this one. Mobile Fidelity has been busy, here's some more pre orders that Acoustic Sounds has on their website:

I bet Highway 61 is gonna be AWESOME......I've always thought the Sony SACD was a little on the harsh side.

Rush and Yes are due out in December and is AF's first SACD releases in over 10 years. Cool beans (good titles & glad they are coming out in SACD & AF is back in it).

Happy Holidays Folks,

Bob

Allman Brothers Band

I received mine yesterday and was generally pleased. Will give it some play this weekend with bigger speakers and louder.
