Josh, congratulations on the significant improvement! It's amazing what David can do.

David did an initial set up of my Amati Futura's about 1-1/2 yrs. ago, and you're right, he's just an awesome guy. He loves what he does, he's very knowledgeable and such a personable guy. My girlfriend doesn't care the least bit about my audio stuff, but she liked David! We fed him some good Louisiana gumbo too!

That is awesome!! My wife does not care about my audio room either but she knows that i like it....... I am glad you had the same experience with David that I have over the years. What was you impression after he did an initial setup of your Futura's?

Well I didn't have anything to compare it to, because it was new equipment in a new room. The plan was to do a rough initial set up until I could treat my room and get power conditioning, but I never got around to pulling the trigger on the latter. I'm also challenged by having a room that's borderline too small for the Amati Futuras. That said, it still sounds amazing!

Oh, and I decided today that I'm moving my entire system up to my main living area which is a much larger room, so these will finally get a chance to breath. Who knows, I may even upgrade my preamp and amp. I'm going listen to the new D'Agastino's and Alexx this weekend. Need to make sure and leave my checkbook in the car.

I just noticed you are in Houston! Please share where you plan to audition them!

Great information. Looking forward to trying it, as I've always used formula ratios to dial in speaker placement.

One question, if I missed it I apologize; how is listening positioned established?

Thanks.

Maybe Metaphacts will chime in but this is what I did. Since I have a dedicated room and therefore flexibility, I established my LP at about 6' into the room, for me that is about 30%.

I start with the speakers about 1' from the back wall and let the chips fall where they may with respect to the equilateral triangle. As I mentioned earlier, if you start with an equilateral triangle and your speakers near the rear wall, you will not end up with an equilateral triangle... I generally like to have my LP about 1.2+X the distance between my speakers. But this process uses your ears and fore goes measurements of any kind!

Craig.......I want to point out the instructions for the starting point as an equilateral triangle also states that this includes the speakers being against the walls. It is easy to overlook that part of the instructions.
