I've had the fatigue mentioned above with the Focal Be tweeters, but strangely enough, the Be tweeters on my Salon 2's don't have the same "edginess" to them. I'm extremely happy with Revel Salon 2 tweeters.

Thank you all for the kind welcomes. As well a digital shoulder to cry upon and your thoughts on the Sopra's. Its wasn't just that I thought the whole world had a different take on the Sopra's. I did, but I never doubted my final decision. What grated was that I nearly made a mistake, and a rookie mistake at that, in not planning on more auditions from the start. Guess that happens when you don't upgrade systems more frequently than every 10-15 years. This is a good time to relearn that lesson as I hope to make some improvements to both my systems over the next few months and years. Now, on to turn tables, power supplies and new cables for my tube system. <g>. Thanks again.

Curious, if you could never listen to your $7000+ speakers for more then an hour, why did you keep them for years? I cant imagine accepting that kind of result after making that kind of investment.

I had a very popular speaker for almost two years that I couldn't listen to for more than an hour. I tried different cables, electronics, room treatment, and placement. I wanted to like them, because they were and still are very popular. In my opinion, many in the "Audiophile" community, "not all", can be affected by reviews and what's popular. It took me years to figure out the sound I prefer and the confidence to purchase components based on my ears, regardless of who manufactured them.

Good post! Those of us (like myself) who are newer to this hobby should really pay attention to this. I'll be the first to admit I succomb to this very thing, and while I realize it, I find it hard to discipline myself in sticking with this advice. Good to be reminded.

Ricjor1 hit what I was trying to say on the head. With many fewer words. Everyone likes the Sopras (for good reasons) so I assumed that I liked them. Or perhaps even that I should like them. So I was ready to buy them even though I should have known that they were not a fit for me or my system. I was lucky that circumstances led me to a second audition. Lesson learned. Again.

They have a peaky treble due to some tweeter resonances, best listened off axis, no toe-in.
