Geesh - While not surprised, it makes me sad.

Indeed. A bi-racial couple we know would like to move to warmer climes. But, feel that they would not be safe from harassment anywhere in the south other than southern FL. Hopefully, our country's turn towards bigotry will soon be over and we will return to being the country for all citizens. Great music and high-end audio gear embraces all races & creeds.

I think this country has been on a turn away from bigotry for a long time now. Sadly, it takes a long time.

I have a Bangladeshi friend who wants to move from CT to the ‘south’ and they have the same concerns.

In the south, we are still fighting the Civil War. Being an audiophile keeps me sane.

Dave, for me, its truly laughable because I understand that it is learned behavior as well as ignorance.

I remember the "Whites only" signs in many public places. We've come a long way since then, but I realize how far we still have to go, and I don't mean to minimize your concerns in any way. There also seems to be a cottage industry on one side of the isle that wants to keep race divisions going , as a way of garnering more votes for their side. I don't think that is helpful. I live in a state where there is a very small black population, but a large Hispanic one, and a lot of Native Americans of different tribes We are a constitutionally mandated Bi-lingual state. I'm happy to report that it seems to work out fairly well, despite a few troublemakers who seem to want to stir the pot. Most people here get along very well, and don't see people in terms of their color, but in terms of the "content of their character", to quote a great American. My experiences in the South don't seem much different, but of course I'm seeing things from a white perspective. Anyway, Gbaby, Peace to you and yours, and a very Merry Christmas.
