Jeez, I better quit while I’m ahead.......if another large box ends up at the front door, my wife will probably say enough is enough! Not really sure what else I need at this point.....maybe someday if Steve wants my Ref Phono 2 SE I can find a Ref Phono 3. You hear that Steve?

Well, when it comes to Alabama, I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re all pretty much playing for second place.

Honestly Jim, I didn’t have them positioned quite right, and not only that, I realized that the REL subs weren’t even turned on when you were here! Ha! It sounds much better now in the final place. It’s ridiculous actually....I can’t get through two songs without picking something else to see what it sounds like.

Buck, really nice room! I, of course, love your shelves full of LP's. I dream of having a collection like that some day! Good work partner!

So, there's something new on the way! Thanks to Ed, Mark, Steve and Marc for convincing me to explore the streaming side of high end audio. Here's what has happened.......last year at RMAF I won a Meridian Explorer MQA compatible DAC which was a nice surprise when I returned home. I never really explored Tidal or Qobuz being more old school and holding on to physical media for dear life. I hooked my Macbook Pro up to it with an Audioquest mini plug to RCA cable to check it out. It pretty much sounds awful. I would use it to explore new music, music reviews online etc, but comparing to redbook CD was not fun since my Ayre C5 xe mp player pretty much killed any online streaming digital. Well, it's gotten to the point where it's difficult to ignore the sheer amount of music available, especially in high rez when you take into account MQA on Tidal and hi rez files on Qobuz, not to even mention HD tracks and hi rez downloads from classical labels like Linn and Hyperion. I've had a lot of fun exploring and listening to different things, so I finally said what the heck, I might as well take advantage of this and get something that doesn't sound like crap.

I thought at first about buying something like the Mytek Brooklyn Bridge or an iFi digital streamer, but I started thinking about how my CD player is beginning to get a bit long in the tooth, so I thought if I can get a streamer that does high rez, MQA, upsamling along with a DAC that could improve my redbook CD playback, that may be a more worthwhile upgrade, especially if it's contained in a single box.

I began looking at the new DCS Bartok, which is the new one box solution from DCS at a lower price point than the Rossini and Vivaldi. I explored that option when a situation presented itself and and now i'm just waiting for a few more days where I'm going to pick it up......can't wait.......
