What I love about this particular opinion of Paul’s is that I am now just a guy who likes to connect pieces of electrical equipment so I can enjoy music. He has removed the ‘audiophile’ label!

I am okay with that.

Just not good judgment on his part. He could have gotten his point across without dissing two long standing successful brands, and avoided undermining his own legitimacy in the process.

While not a reviewer, at least Paul isn't afraid to be critical. Maybe more in audio NEED to be critical?

+1

And as an owner of B&W and Sonus faber, I have no issues with his comments.

I enjoy his opinion and admire his not being totally “PC” in this day and age especially.

I think Paul is absolutely 100% correct.

I’ve owned a pair of Amati Futura loudspeakers for several years now. As Paul notes, they are not highly resolving speakers in the mold of Wilson, Infinity, VonSchweikart, etc.

If this knocks them off the high end pyramid then I’m totally ok with that.

McIntosh easily falls into that same camp. You know, it’s not real high end gear because it has flexible inputs and tone controls (blasphemy) and doesn’t use Mundorf or SonicCaps and oh my god there are PC boards and output transformers in there!

I’m ok with that too.

If high resolution is critical for audiophile nirvana, well I’ve been down that road and found out it’s a dead end. But that’s just me.

Sorry but who cares what Paul thinks ? Sonus Faber makes hi end speakers , Mcintosh is also considered hi end. If your definition is tone controls don't make it hi end or flexible inputs, total BS .

I was not aware high resolution was the sole characteristic of high end speakers

Just having a little fun folks. Far be it for mew to determine what is high end or not - it's all in the ears of the beholder.

In my business endeavors as well as personal interactions over the years, I have often found that people or businesses who need to make negative comments about competitors or associates many times have either low self esteem of themselves or their businesses. On the other hand, those businesses who are truly successful just let their businesses speak for themselves
