It's all about what plucks your heart strings while tickling your toes. Experience wise, it doesn't matter if it's you, I, reviewers, or what have you. Besides, we are in this to enjoy music in our homes. It sounds like you're there. Cheers -Don

Sounds like you are truly enjoying your new amps. You may have reached the pinnacle of your amplifier journey. I can only imagine how sweet they are with the Petite Latours. Congratulations and many years of musical bliss.

I do worry that as one moves up the diminishing marginal returns scale maybe I am trying to hear something better? But that clearly wasn't the case with the cello pieces last night. The 300b were better than the gm70s as I remembered them. I doubt I could hear a cable difference. Interestingly, I can walk into a room and immediately feel the positives architecturally, and be able to articulate why. Others may feel the difference but not know why or what causes it. And others are just ignorant until trained to observe. With wine, my wife is far better as she has a much better sense of smell. And is Cordon Bleu (Paris) professionally trained, for a year. Me, I know what I like but I max out on all the subtle differences. She will always be better. That's how I feel about audio. And why I don't want others to rely on my enthusiasm. (Though of course, it could be the opposite interpretation: when I notice a change profound enough to move me, then Everyone should and it's worthwhile! |

This amp continues to amaze me. Everything is so natural and effortless. I really hear much more detail but it's not the detail that impresses me. The music just flows. I worried about losing scale going from the gm70s but I absolutely haven't. There is no area where I have regrets. .

Congrats, Richard. I think your comments have pushed me over the edge. If you're an SET guy and a Shindo guy how can you go through life without bringing this amp into your home? Well done.
BTW I've heard the WE300b tube takes a couple of hundred hours to burn in. So it'll get even better! |

This may be the worst thread ever. :-)
I had a non Shindo 300b amp set before getting my shindo gm70's. And now Richard's discussion has renewed my love for the 300b. So now I plan to crack open my storage boxes tomorrow and plop the 300b's in just to hear that sound again. Does this mean that I will be speaking to Matt soon? I hope not.... No, I really don't! Ps. Congrats Richard. Enjoy every note! You've earned it!,,, |

Actually, I was going to order the 300b from Matt yesterday. But, after reading Richard's advice to wait and savor every step, I decided not to rush in.
