Tung Sol is another very good tube. (to my ears, i like mid-freq tung sol and i like high-freq GLion)
*but i could live with JJ (not chinese old stock mc)

Get a matched quad from Uncle Kevin of Upscale Audio. Problem solved!

If they don't say Made in China on the tube you can probably safely assume they are Russian made.

. . . . . .
JJ preamp tubes are made in the reorganized Tesla factory in the Slovak Republic. If they say made in Russia, they are made by New Sensor Corporation at their Xpo-Pul factory. This includes Genalex, Mullard, Electro-Harmonix, Tung-Sol, Svetlana, Sovtek.

AlienViolet.......You are correct, sir. Thanks for the clarification on locations of the factories.

Slovak Republic

I agree that the input tubes can make a substantial difference to the MC275, but with my Mk 6 I've found the Psvane 88s to add quite a bit of "drive" over my Gold Lions. These are pretty small differences, though, and it can get pricey to swap quads in and out. Had I known I might have stuck with the (in my case, very good-sounding) stock Russians!

best,

s

I have had my MC275 VI for around 15 months now and am considering new tubes.

I have searched and cannot find a diagram which shows the function of each tube for the MC275 VI. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Also, I see an online company named "Reverb LP" sells sets of tubes for this amp. I was wondering if anyone had experience buying tubes with them?

I love the MC275 VI but am always interested in improving the sound if possible!
