Do any Lynyrd Skynyrd albums have decent dynamic range?
Do any Lynyrd Skynyrd albums have decent dynamic range?
I bought some 192/24 albums off of HD Tracks and the dynamic range is terrible, and even though I like their songs, I have a difficult time enjoying them because the recording sounds so bad (flat/lifeless/dull) on my system. Roon says it's dynamic range is ~4. Do you know of a better format for dynamic range with this band? Do I need to try this one in Vinyl or SACD? Or is poor dynamic range a problem with that era? Creedence Clearwater Revival sounds bad too. |

Didn’t Analogue Productions release SACDs (and maybe their own downloads) of some of their albums? I recall reading positive comments about them, I think.

It sounds crystal clear, it's just fatiguing and a tad bit compressed despite a huge file size. It could be a flac rerip of a CD for all I know (honestly, I don't really know how to tell the difference) The DR of 6 or more sound more realistic, with 9 being awesome. I'm going off of Zoon's DR rating, not loudness war's rating. |

I know it doesn't do anything to mitigate recordings with ultra low DR values, but maybe it'll make them more enjoyable.

MOFI had released Street survivor and pronounced in vinyl. I have pronounced and it sounded great from my recollection.
