I actually just got off of a cruise boat in Ft. Lauderdale, FL last Saturday. Found out on Tuesday that three employees of the company that "greets cruise ships" tested positive for Coronavirus, so they've asked us to "self isolate" for 14 days post potential exposure. No symptoms yet, so ... we will see.

On another note: the music on board the ship was fantastic. We had two concerts each day on the "Lincoln Center Stage" by a Piano Quintet (Piano, Cello, Viola, 2 Violins) that was absolutely fantastic. By arriving early we sat 8- 12 feet from the performers for most of the performances. Once again, the inadequacy of home audio systems was highlighted - ughhhh. My room and system are pretty good, but listening to real instruments played by World Class musicians in real time, live is just another thing altogether. We also were treated to 3 sets each night by the BB King All Star Band (3 vocals, 2 guitars, bass, drums, sax and trumpet) and they too were outstanding musicians. What a week of fun - great music, beautiful beaches, sunny weather .... wow :-)

The music was also great on the Titanic.

On a more serious note, at this point we are aware of the statistics, who is at risk and the common sense approach if one wants to minimize the risk.

This virus will burn itself out in a few months time but it is not going away for good. It will simply be added to the growing list of others that will make their appearances every season but infecting less people next time around as immunity builds.

Italy is a disaster right now, they are letting people die because they cannot accommodate all the infected. We can very easily slip into the same situation.

This is not the first time we have encountered a viral threat yet there seems to be gaping holes in the lines of defense. Hospitals running dangerously low on simple supplies such as masks to protect our most important resources in this battle, the healthcare workers. Take them out of the equation (happening in Italy) and we are truly on our own.

Not to mention our dependence on foreign countries for critical pharmaceutical drugs that are manufactured in the zones of many of the viral infections to begin with.

If this doesn’t wake up the administrations/policy makers around the world to be better prepared for what seems to be a growing trend, then we can all agree they are criminally negligent.

PS: Welcome back Serge.
Excellent perspective.

I for one am unfazed by the sensationalism surrounding CV. This too shall pass...

ATL, #1 in the world
LAX, #2 in the world
ORD, #5 in the world
DFW, #9 in the world
DEN, #11 in the world
JFK, #12 in the world
SFO, #16 in the world
MCO, #18 in the world

And several other US major hubs, IAD, MIA, etc...

This does not mention all the flights coming into Heathrow that transit people onto flights that will still wind up here.

A very good measure but in not wanting to peeve off our British allies (a guess), a serious flaw in the plan.

Despite SeaTac (SEATTLE) not making the busiest on the list, everyone is pointing to us here in Seattle as the epicenter of this in the States

All things do...just a matter of time and we all know it moves quick despite how bad things can be especially if you can muster and act in a forward direction.
