Ok tricky question because any answer is an opinion. But let me share my opinion on the matter.
Accuphase has demonstrated over a 40+ year period one of the most advanced FM tuner design teams on the planet. Perhaps only Kenwood made more signifcant techlogy but have left FM a long time ago. They continued in adanced RF systems however. Others have had peaks in FM tuner design but never a desire to continously have the next tuner better then the previous one like accuphase. And certainly not over such a long period. I mean who still does in house fm tuner design?
There have a been a few more expensive tuners designed as cost no object but still none have the specs of this tuner. I’m thinking REL Precent, a few Ballempfängers by Telefunken and Rode & Schwarz, the Burmester 978 and maybe the Marantz 10b, and that’s about it. I excluded 3 top kenwoods because allthough extremely good they were not cost no object designs. Neither is this t-1200 but it stand up to these and that says a lot. Granted this DSP techlogy is much easier to achieve this performance than say with tubes and coils and other very variable components. But there is some very adanced things done in this tuner when you read the high level design documents of the previous model and this one. This technolgy became topic of reserach and patents a few years ago as it trumped previous RF technolgy. A few Dsp tuners have been commerciallized but this one goes the furthest.
Specs dont equate to good sound but in tuners specs tell a big part of the story unlike all other elements in stereo system. If you can’t extract the weak signal to begin with, you can have the best output section design but there is just crap to output.
And perhaps a very simple well designed tube tuner with a short simple signal path may convey a more satisfying experience but that’s if it can extract the signal and add very little noise. That’s a big If. Because this tuner is so quiet and so good at extracting the signal that i believe it will even out do that.

I didnt think accuphase would produce another tuner after the t-1100 because of the state of FM in europe and north america but guess they sell enough of them in asia to keep it going.

Definetly get an outdoor antenna and maybe that ac regenerator from accuphase to get the last 20% and then stop and pray for a Live to Air Concert broadcast in your market.
I have an external yagi 8 ft above my 2 floor house and it helps even the most modest tuner. Stroner signal equals less background noise.

Ivan should host a shootout with other tuners among your friends that live within 1hr drive our so. You will happy with the results

The founders of Accuphase, the Brothers Kasuga, had previously (in 1946) also founded Trio-Kenwood.
In 1972 the newly founded company was called Kensonic Laboratories (Ken like Kenwood), which only a few years later was finally changed from the brand Name Accuphase to the company name Accuphase.
Mr. Jiro Kasuga's tradition of FM Tuners (Kenwood) started back in 1954!

As crazy good as the T-1200 reception is with my indoor MD ST-2 antenna, I decided to mount it outside.

Ivan.......Now your talkin'. The Magnum Dynalab ST-2 antenna is a good omni-directional antenna that deserves to be mounted outside at a decent elevation. Your Accuphase T-1200 deserves more than a dipole wire antenna. Looking forward to your impressions.

That tuner deserves the best antenna installation.

A pair of stacked Finco FM-5 yagis, a (at least 55 foot) Rohn tower with ball bearing antenna mast thrust bearing, a 2.5 inch schedule 80 pipe for the mast and TailTwister T2X rotator.

On a good day you might even receive stations from South America. . -- OK, that's a slight exaggeration.
