I would put that center channel on an amp stand and declare victory.

Just sayin.
This is the quandary with centre channel positioning & the problem using a 3rd matching vertical floor stander. IMO, loudspeaker manufacturers need to focus on developing bigger & better horizontal centres to compliment their high end floor standing models. The centre is not just for HT but becoming more relevant for multi-ch music too.

McIntosh are one of the few that have seemed to have done that well. Ivan, when we swing through the east coast on our next America's trip one of these days, it would be nice to arrange a listen.

I had a stand built for mine and raised it up as much as I could without blocking my screen...I had the HTM2D previously, and there is no comparison, the "1" rocks like no other, perfectly matching my 800Ds...the only thing better would be another 800D in the centre, but that isn't going to happen in my room, it would block out the screen!

This is an older pic before the stand...while not ideal, the stand gets it as close as I could get it to the 800Ds tweeters...

Don't get me wrong, the HTM1 is the better speaker but I'm just thinking if he essentially puts it in a box so much of what it has to offer will be lost. Now if he could get a HTM2 and place it on the top shelf the sound could be better. Just a thought.

I don't really think of what you have as a stand per se, for me it's more of just a riser. I have however seen on one of the forums, not sure if it was here or not someone who did build a full blown stand for his, he had it built to mimic the plinth of the 800's, it looked amazing. He could get away with raising it higher than yours because he had a projection screen I believe.

I agree Rod, was just giving my experience of moving from the 2 to the 1...and I have seen the plinth looking one, I think that was HTG...it was pretty gorgeous... It is tough with a big screen!

Very nice! The OCD part of me says that the screen is not in the exact center of the speaker arrangement. The "Mr. Monk" in me would be driven crazy......

I am also suffering from that OCD bit, especially for the center speaker which should be moved a little bit to the right..at least based on the second pic.
