Trek737 Unbelievable!

That really inspires me to get my dedicated theatre going.

Are those 9' ceilings? How large is that room?

Your choice of amplification is spot on. One day i hope to have a setup like that!!

First let me say thanks to JohnK, Cisco, jwhite613, Jimmy64, Randy, MikeSp, Dave, Chuck, Mike, Joe, SMC23, Jerome, and KahunaCanuck for your nice comments on my theater. Your comments are appreciated more then you think. I was a little in doubt on how well my HT would go over when I posted a 1.5K room that I found earlier on Electronic Home with little feedback.

This is the first time that I have posted photos on the internet / public of my HT, and I wanted it to be on AA. There are a lot of nice and helpful people that are on AA, and it has been a pleasure to get to know them, and to get their input and hear their feedback on my HT.

Please tell me what kind of equipment racks you used -- the left one was holding about 500 pounds of Mc amps and I was unaware of any that had shelves that could hold 110 pounds each or the rack itself that could hold 500 pounds???

Thanks,

MikeSp
Slim 5 Series, Middle Atlantic Racks.... I worked with Pavia from MA to get custom shelves that attach to all four corners of the rack that were made just for these amps. A special shelve to sit on top so the Mac amps can slide right in from the front. And yes it is tough to move that rack. I can do it myself by pushing from the bottom but it is a beast!

9' ceilings with a 10'.6" tray in the middle. Room is 23' X 18'.

My wife and I built the star ceiling. I probably have over 600 man hours and my wife 2-300 hundred hours in building this theater. We hired a carpenter to do the most of the wood work, but I did most of the trim work including all of the cove, corner and decorative box moldings myself.

I tried to get the pictures bigger on the AA site but to no avail. Here are a few of the before shots...

Again, thanks to everyone who chimed in with some nice comments. When you actually help build it, to me it takes on a whole new meaning of ownership...

This photo is how the builder had the room in the model for our home.
Notice the slanted ceiling and the walls that are angled in towards the screen.
This room is 16' X 18'

2009: Here is the room as I changed it to 23' X 18' and added a riser for second tier seating.
Also raised the ceilings to 9' plus the 10'.6" tray.

2010: Here is the room with new: furniture, screen, projector, preamp, and blu-ray player.

2011: Star ceiling, stained wood walls, and fabric accoustic panels built
into the walls.

Here is the original equipment room:

Thanks again for taking a second look...

Trek,
The photos of the evolution of your theater speak volumes. It is awesome to see your dream unfold into a spectacular performance space. The fact that you built most of it with your own labor, smarts and sweat makes the prize that much more valuable. The trim work looks awesome. Lots of head scratching on the compound slide/miter, no doubt.

I love the big MC601's and MC452 and the separate equipment room. Nothing to get in the way of the show!

Well done, sir!

Tom
