Default Matt A.K.A. mgbaron's System

I snapped a few photos of my system tonight and thought I'd share. It won't blow your mind or anything, but I think it's coming together nicely.

The room plays double duty as living room and music room and the TV/Sonos and two channel are kept completely separate. It's an irregular room, and the sound is far from perfect, but evolving with every tweak.

Current setup is something like this...

DAC: Bel Canto REFLink > Bel Canto DAC 3.5VB mkII
TT: Project Xperience Classic
Preamp: McIntosh C2300
Amp: McIntosh MC402
Speakers: B&W 802D
Cables: Kimber Ag USB, Shunyata Zitron Python Signal Cables, Shunyata Zitron Python and Cobra Power Cables
Power Conditioner: Shunyata Hydra Talos

The components in italics were purchased here on the AA marketplace.

As always, I'm looking to improve, so if you have any feedback I'd love to hear it!

Matt,

did you try to move speakers ahead a little bit?

Your rack should eat the soundstage in this position.

That was my first reaction when we installed the cabinet a few days ago so I pulled them out to about 6 inches in front of the cabinet and the soundstage improved quit a bit. I'll probably try pulling them out even further, but doing so requires moving the rug and pulling back the couch a bit, so I haven't tackled it yet. Sounds like a good project for the weekend though .

Matt,

Looks like a nice clean system with a well laid out room to enjoy it in.

Add some acoustic panels to help tame the hardwood floors. The panels I added in my room helped.

I love everything about your system and your room. The thing about using family living spaces for listening rooms is that "everything must be a compromise" with wives, with aesthetics, and yes, with the sound.

Your room looks warm, wonderful, and inviting, and should you have a "better half" I'm sure she is just as proud of showing it off as you are.

Tweak it? Sure, but don't make your room look stupid in the process.

+1 To what Julian said. Your room looks very nice. Continue to tweak the speaker position and both you and your wife will be happy.
