Expensive Power cables plugged into power conditioners...too much??
I have a dedicated 20amp line running from my electrical panel to a PS Audio hospital grade outlet. That connects to a Bryston BIT 20 power conditioner that powers all my components.
I just bought a used Krell Evo 202 pre-amp to compliment my Krell 302e amplifier. At the moment, its connected to the BIT 20 with the stock power cord. I was planning to buy another WW power cable from Ivan but then questioned whether that would be a value purchase or not? What do you think? |

Mark... I don’t have/use a stock power cord anywhere. My personal experience is they are worth upgrading even on Power Conditioners.

+3 and also add the Furutech Flux-50 NCF from your power cable to your conditioner.
The Flux-50 NCF is the best upgrade I ever added to my system.

A good power cord will not only filter noise coming into the system, but will also help filter noise being introduced into the system by the component.

I use mid-level power cords (Shunyata Delta NR). I have one connecting my power conditioner to the wall outlet. My amp and primary digital source each have a Delta NR power cord plugged into the conditioner. In my setup, it works beautifully.

You need both, the conditioner but the cords are just as important. I can’t recommend Transparent’s Gen 5 Reference cords enough. They totally transformed my system even with all other cabling at Reference level and an Isolator Reference (MM2 tech) conditioner.

Good thread - I wondered about this one as well. My AQ Niagara 1000 is plugged into the wall with the AQ Thunder. It brought about a surprising change to my system in that it made me a believer in power cables/conditioners having an impact on overall sound reproduction.
I use what I think are good power cables from my components to the power conditioner as well and found a similar but less impactful difference. Still, it's those improvements that add up to an overall, very satisfying listening experience. |
