My speakers are on big marble slabs under which I've installed teflon pads. This makes moving the speaker very easy no matter the weight. And you get to keep the decoupling from spikes.

I've gained sonically from installing the slabs. The sounds has more precision, more airiness.

Dan, were ever a gunny sergeant? I love the philosophy!

To OP, i do think Dan is on the right track. Communicate your concerns and listen to hers. Best to find a compromise.

Craig.......Never a gunny. I have learned through my life that respect is a two way street. If you don't offer it, you have no right to expect it. I like being friendly and respectful of those I associate with. In fact, I prefer it but if someone wants to be an ass I have no problem reflecting their attitude. People find out quick, I will push back.

One of the reasons Marlene and I have managed to enjoy and survive 27 years together and still be happy is we show each other respect. If she says something is important to her, I listen. The same is true for her when I express my concerns. She understands when I say leave something alone that I mean it. She honors that. Honestly, I can not imagine Marlene ever moving my speakers or anything else she knows I placed somewhere for a reason. We not only love one another, we respect one another's wishes. It goes a long way toward creating long term harmony in a relationship.

Donna steers clear of all my audio gear/rooms, and cars. Likewise, I don't meddle with her things. Just another very strong reason why we love each other so much.

My system is located in a shared room, also with wood floors. I use the gliders provided by Sonus under the speaker spikes. I've discretely outlined the two back gliders on the wood floor in pencil (not visible when the speakers are positioned over them). I've pointed out the marks to my wife, and if she needs to move the speakers to clean or rearrange her plants it's no problem: sometimes she remembers to replace them, but if not it's easy enough for me to get them back in the right spot. As Dan points out, it's about mutual respect, but when it's a shared space it's also about compromise.

You could weld them to the floor for a good laugh.

Robfine, while Dan's approach is undoubtedly the most rational in terms of seeking mutual buy-in and preserving a healthy relationship, here's a suggestion in case it's not enough and you need a credible fall-back: Indicate that you're going to go ahead and put spikes (perhaps even on gliders or seated in spike cups) under your speakers at their optimum location and then point out that moving the speakers will damage the floor.

Just the threat of that might be enough to resume negotiations to achieve a mutually acceptable solution that gets you to where you want to go. And note that you haven't threatened any tit-for-tat relocation or dislocation of her possessions in the process.

I still think a make-up treasure map could be fun for the whole family.
