Default bass management k03x?

Folks,

Looking at the K03x but wanting to maintain bass management, at least for red book CDs, files. I have an oppo 105 and preamps with no bass management (shindo Masseto, JC Verdier). I also have the JL 113. With this combination, can I can preserve the sub? How? I only want a xover, i do not want full range on speakers and bass under oppo xover. Speakers are full range (Kef 207/2)s. Ideas welcomed! I also use JRiver (and I think it has digital bass management there). I do not want to transcode, or lose bits coming into the K03 than may have any impact on SQ.

Yes, jRiver will do bass management. Not sure about the rest of your issues.

thank you. The issue is how do i then get the LF music to the F113? If both XLR and RCAs are hot at the same time in the K03x, then maybe I can set the xover directly in the F113? Other ways?

I would not do the bass management in JRiver. The processing will remove the bitperfect output path.

Ivan may be able to answer: are both outputs hot on the K03x? If so, just wire up XLR to amp and rca to sub. Then use the F113 controls to adjust your bass accordingly (not to mention using its own built-in correction).

It's how I roll from the MDA1K and it works quite nicely.

Well, I do not think that both outputs are simultaneously active. However, even if they were and you used one set of L/R outputs for the main amp/speakers and the other set into the f113, you would still lack a volume control for all three. That would leave the KEFs under the VC in your preamp but no way to adjust the volume of the f113.

Yeah, my scenario was without separate pre.

Keeping your Shindo in there just feed the Preamp directly then run separate leads to each amp and sub (does the Preamp have dual-outputs?). Then just dial-in the sub on its own xover/correction.

Remember, you need a VC and that means doing the BM after the Shindo. As a result, you have 2 basic options:
1. Insert a full crossover after the Shindo and accept that it is inserted into the signal path for your main amp/speakers.
2. Insert a splitter after the Shindo, route one pair to the sub (with or without external c/o or EQ) and accept that the main amp/speakers run full range.
