I would assume because it has sold out. The new model is the C2600.

The C2600 came out a few months ago (or longer). I love my 2500, best preamp I have had by far.

Some claim that the c2300 is the best preamplifier that mc has manufactured.

The C2500 is the best preamp I have ever had as well. Previous I had an Audible Illusions Modulus2, Audible Illusions Modulus3A, Audible Illusions Modulus 3B and a Rogue RP-5 preamp. They were all tube preamps. I LOVE the features on the C2500 including cartridge loading on the fly via remote, Tone controls, re-naming the inputs, etc.

It sounds great partnered to the MC152 power amp. Since October 2017, I have purchased 5 McIntosh pieces.
