Album art is a problem as there as so many ways different systems work.

Pickup a Western Digital Passport 1TB USB drive - works great with the BDP.

James,

Does Bryston have a plan of having their own dedicated bdp1 app for ipad or android in the near future? It appears like the trend in the future are music servers.

Chris our software expert is looking at it but just has not had time yet. We will do it though - priority would be iPad over Android.

Bryston BDP-1

Chris and Bryston,

The BDP sounds absolutely fantastic.

I thought that I needed to setup a 2 channel preamp (with passthrough) for my critical 2 channel listening. As much as I love my Esoteric CD player, the BDP-1 solved the slightly thin mid-range, provided added texture, depth, and warmth; all without sacrificing anything.

Several weekends ago I listened to the BP26 with the separate BDA and while it solved some of my "problems" I felt that it sacrificed the soundstage.

But the BDP performed its magic without sacrificing air, detail, or soundstage.

Very nice.

Stewart

This is great news. MPad is very nice, but some of its functions are pretty flakey, such as playlists, which I normally just get frustrated with whenever I try to use them.

I would love features similar to iTunes where I can give each song stars and easily create/update playlists as well as create smart playlists based on my star ratings or other metadata such as artist or genre.

Hi James,

As I mentioned (of topic) on another tread, I was going to audition your headphone amp. Did so today. Brought my own Grado GS1000 headphones and my Lehmann headphone amp for comparison. Also listened to the Sennheiser HD800.

I fully expected a big difference in character between the Grado and the Senn. What I was not prepared for was the actual difference between the Lehmann and BHA-1. I used to think that I had one of the best headphone amps out there, Sennheiser even used them at the demo during the launch of the HD800. However, the sound from the BHA-1 was much more open and so much closer to “being there”. The Lehmann had an abundance of high’s and low’s, but sounded much more clinical. The BHA oozed music and was much more “3-dimensional” if you will.

What a machine!

IMO the difference between the phones was more a matter of taste than an actual difference in quality, both having an astounding level of detail. For classical music I definitely preferred the airiness of the Sennheiser, but the directness of the Grado was great for Jazz.

Needless to say I ordered the BHA-1 (and a HD800 for good measure). Had already decided on the BDP/BDA combo. For headphone music this is about as good as it gets! Now all I need is an aftermarket XLR cable for the Senn!

Cheers,
Bob

Subject: BDP-1 #000890 has landed

Hi James and Mike,

The BDP-1 works beautifully. Plug and play, literally. Never had it easier. Using my iPad with Bryston-Max, and ethernet transceivers plugged into wall outlet.

For settings adjustments, I need a username and password. Please provide. Serial #000890.

One drawback: this may make my CD collection somewhat moot!!!

Keep up the great work.

Pete

(And thanks for the free music on that USB. I was expecting a free t-shirt, but this is classier!).

Hi Folks,

The INNER EAR is doing a review on the BDP/BDA combination.

Here is what he emailed me this morning:

Hi James,

Got the BDA-1 and BDP-1 digital playback system up and running this weekend. My thoughts so far: I think it sounds more analogue than some TTs which I find strange.

There is less of the digital glare, one finds in even very high-end players. Going to change the interconnects today and listen carefully again.

Anyway the unit(s) live up to the highest of expectations and the most critical ears in the audio business.

Ernie F
