Now that the lacklustre & bitter Lucus has cashed it all in, a new generation of talent will do a better job with taking the story forward.

Do we really need the story to continue the story? I lost interest after the first two or three.

Disney has done pretty well with some of its franchises. I doubt/hope they can **** it much more than prequel trilogy already did

WOW... Didn't see that coming!

Speaking as a huge Star Wars fan I am very excited about this (although I'd rather Lucas not continue on as a creative consultant for the next Star Wars films). Star Wars has a lot of future potential and I think Disney is a great fit. Hopefully they will learn from the disaster of the last three movies and also not destroy the new films with CGI!

I have hope again as the franchise (as well as Indiana Jones) had to be taken away from Lucas to ever be successful again. Lucas did an awesome job, but he lost his magic over the years... IMO.

He just did his best magic trick, he made $4.05 billion appear.

I never thought I would see the day he would sell the franchise. I almost fell out of my seat when I saw the headline, knowing how protective he's been with it over the years. I really hope Disney doesn't make a farce out of the whole thing, but when the almighty dollar is involved, you never know.

I'm sure Disney will bring its brand of John Carter Magic to the franchises.

There's a good write up on the whole thing including EP7 on NPR.

NPR Story on Acquisition and what it means

-----Jim, anything for cashin' in. ...Even poor stories and cardboard characters.

I'm with ya, I'd rather see new imaginative minds with new creations, than expanding on some already created ones.
But when money is the ultimate ruler, true creativity (new innovations more important to the times we live in) takes the back seat. ...It's just the way it is, unfortunately.
