MS750 web access

I know this is all very old stuff, but I am thoroughly stumped and need help from this esteemed group.

I used to be able to access my 750 via iPad (750 hardwired to wireless router) Then I got a new wireless router in a different location that I could not directly wire to the 750. Ok, just use the monitor and remote.

Recently, I was browsing threads on the MS and read one about adding a wireless extender with a plug for a hardwire connection to the 750. So I bought one and figured I was back in business using my iPad. Of course not....

Here’s where I’m ready to give up. I can access the webgui via my wirelessly connected PC, but not either of my two iPads or iPhone. Obviously I’ve got the right address in my PC, so why doesn’t it work with the iPad? Like I said, I used to access the webgui with my iPad when their was a direct connection to the router. If I couldn’t use my PC to access the 750, then I’d chalk it up to the wireless vs hardwired connection to my router. And this problem is using Safari, Chrome, or Fire Fox.


Any ideas?

Interesting, I have my MS750 hardwired to a wireless extender, and the last time I tried (which was a while ago) I has able to access my MS750 with my android phone. I would think you should be able to do the same with your devices.

I had all kinds of access issues with a wireless extender & its hardwired devices. IP addresses were constantly lost or duplicated so there were conflicts. My printer worked for two weeks or so, then failed. I finally gave up. I’m wondering if you’re experiencing the same issue.

Ok, so it appears that I have solved the problem...

From my PC, the following worked fine: <http://MS750/7.0.5/webgui/index>
but did NOT work from my IPad. I checked the IP address on the MS and found that the last number had changed from 54 to 52 (no real surprise).

So I figured, aha! I then tried substituting the 'correct' IP address for "MS750" in the above string and it also did not work on the IPad (arrrgh!!). Finally, in desperation, I typed ONLY <http://IP address> and that immediately got me to the web gui, and it automatically filled in the rest of the address string with </7.0.5/webgui/index>

So I think if typing the name you've assigned doesn't work the first time, type the actual IP address ONLY; if you think you are being helpful by adding the rest of the address, you aren't. It'll just hiccup on you. At least that's what mine was doing.

Independent of the device, I would advise to:
• Go with static IP addresses for your device(s) instead of using your router’s DHCP. With DHCP, one day or another you’ll end up with IP address duplicates, different/changed IP addresses etc.
• Use the IP address instead of the name of the device. Name resolving works different on different Operating Systems, which may result in different behavior.
• If you still want to use a device name, specify the link “ip address – device name” in the hosts file (unix based OSes -> /etc/hosts, Windows -> C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts).

I have been doing this for some time....glad you got it working (as I dont recall how I got it working, but it wasn't a problem) - but, yes - you need to use the static address

my question - I can access my MS750 from my computers (MB Pro) and my iPad/iPhone using the address - but how do you get a keyboard to pop-up to allow for searching?

... and still trying to find a way to connect and upload music to the Import folder from Mac OS X....... this function was lost many years ago when Apple got rib of SMB????

Not an Apple user, but if you install an FTP server on the Mac, you can upload whatever to the Mac via whatever FTP client software from any other computer. For both FTP servers and clients, there're free open source offerings (at least on Windows & Linux).
