I’ll have to hunt that down on the ROON community forum.
Here is the link - QNAP has Roon built in; but easy download to Synology. For Roon Core, I would consider the Synology 720 with outboard SSD, or 920 with 4 bays.

I ordered a 920+ on Friday to accompany my 918+, they are great devices. I'm not sure if I'll go SSD on the 920 yet, but like I did on my 918 I'll push the memory beyond the Synology specs. The new device will serve as more of a media server with the 918 being a backup for my backups and probably some VMs for work.

Putting together a 1918+ for a client right now w/ 16gb ECC RAM and 2x 512gb M.2 NVMe cache drives.

8x14tb hdds in Raid6 for 84tb active. Not bad for something the size of a shoe box.

Excellent, the 920 is the next logical step up from the 420 and looks like a great box.

Wow, that’s a serious setup!

I think I'm going to go a little more high end with the 920+, I've got 4x4TB WD drives in my 918, I'm thinking 4x8TB Seagates in the new one and a 16GB DIMM for a total of 20GB for plenty of VM horsepower. No SSD cache as I won't get any value out of it, it is useless for streaming.
