Steel slide & frames models are much more rugged than the alloy frame models. The Commander was an "officers" model with a shorter barrel and alloy frame. After a few years the DOD discovered their error and reverted to a steel frame in the later model Commander up thru today.

HK45 was my favorite big polymer 45 till I got a FNX45 Tactical.

My favorite 1911 is my Ruger. Still a good 1911 but cheap enough that I don’t care if it gets beat on with carry. But if I want to give myself a hernia with low round capacity I like the Sig P220 or CZ 97B.

For me it's a Kimber Ultra Carry .45ACP. I never leave home without it.

My Springfield Champion Operator Lightweight does the job and does it well.

Everyonce in a while my Springfield Trophy Match comes out to play and it's a tack driver.

I have enough on hand to last a while but would like to increase my inventory of .45ACP ammo. I found out today that it's hard to find in the quantity I'd like to purchase. In some cases you are limited to 1 or 5 boxes of 50 rounds. I did run across one seller who had 1,000 rounds available to purchase but at $0.59/round that's highway robbery!
