Now if only they could make a truly functional remote. Nah... Too much to ask for!

The K-01Xs DAC board design is changed from K1
i.e. in terms of DAC hardware N-01 (DSD512) seems to based on and improved from K1 (DSD256), but the K-01Xs (DSD512) is different.

Of course they care!
This way you can buy an upgrade every year or so, to scratch your LuFlu itch.

Kidding aside, there seems to be a very fast pace in bringing out new models...

myjazz123.......I have absolutely no reason whatsoever to think my Esoteric K-01X won't continue to completely satisfy me. I'll pass on the "s" model, and the next, and the next. The K-01X is superb. Sit back and relax, enjoy what you have, play lots of music, and forget about the hardware merry-go-round. Your other option is to go nuts and broke chasing the proverbial next best thing.

Dan, I agree the K-01x is great player, but that AKM chip 4497 is much more analog sounding without loosing any resolving power the esoteric is famous for. Plus 35bit algorithm to convert signal may also make difference. With that pace of the introducing new models, the Esoteric should provide with upgrade opportunity.
