Default Need help diagnosing a power amp problem

I have an old Rotel RB-985 BX 2 channel 120 watt power amp that just seemed to die. I think it was from a spark on a loose speaker cable connection but not sure. It powers up, I can see the circuit protection click on and check itself, and the power light is on. But no sound. First out of one side, and now both. I've actually never had an amp fail on me so I'm not sure what to look for or how to test what's wrong. A fuse? Fried circuits? Any direction here would be appreciated on what to look at so I can decide what my next move has to be. Thanks in advance.

Hard to say, check all interconnects and power cables. It could be a fuse, or even a transformer, resistor, cap. Give Rotel a call they have great customer service.

The amp is 18 years old. You think Rotel would still answer some questions about it? I'll give it a try.

I would also check the fuses, they may be on the back panel or you may have to pop the top. A few bucks spent here may solve all your ills, checking fuses solved a problem for me last year with an old amp

They helped me with my RCD-1070 after having it for 8 years or so. It can't hurt, give them a call. I'm telling you they have some great customer service.

If I can't figure it out I absolutely will call. Thanks again for the suggestion. I don't know if I would have considered that had you not suggested it. Figured it was just too old.
