Default 800 or 802's - toe in

For those that properly set up B&W speakers to the point where you are happy: how much are your 800 or 802 speakers toed in (if at all)?

Curious as to what your experiences are.

Also interested in the specifics of the methodology used to arrive at your preferred placement.

Other obsevations?

Cheers!

Matt

I have a fairly equal triangle, sitting about 9 feet away, toed in quite a bit, not sure what degrees.

Yup, me too. Was curious about the amount of toe (even subjectively).

Thanks!

Matt, I prefer my 802 straight, listening from 9-10 ft away.

My 802's are toed in, not sure of the angle though, I have the tweeters pointing a bit wide of dead center of my central listening position. I found widening the alignment from dead center gave a bit more of a three dimensional soundstage in that central position when listening to 2 channel sources. A side benefit is when setting off center the speakers seem to create a phantom center exceptionally well to either side of my sofa, very similar to the experience from sitting dead center on the sofa.
I plan to so the same with my 800's.

I moved my system this weekend so I do not have dialed in at the current position but for now I measure 9.5 feet away but have the 802's around 8 feet apart. I will be running the test CD from Barry Ober at Soundoctor.com to try to get to the pin point so the vocals are dead center. Will try to post back results later this week.

Honestly I think this is where the room matters quite a bit. Side walls might make you toe in more than no side walls.

Nobody here can really help.. you need to try all angles until the vocals snap to the center (get someone to help adjust speakers and pick a cd that have vocals set to dead center...most Diana krall cds do.)

I have my 801s set up at 9 feet apart with my listening position at the point where my ears make up one point of an equilateral triangle with the tweeters making up the other two. As for toe, the speakers are placed toe-in so that a line through the midline of each speaker is just to the outside of where my left and right ears would be. I don't know, or care, how scientific my method is but I do know that the imaging is simply tip-top from where I sit.

That is very close to my setup and what I would recommend as a starting point for anyone.
