I'm obviously a wilson fan, but there are other great speakers out there that she may think look good in your room, and you still like the sound of. Show her some beautiful wood options, like Sonus Faber. Tons of options.

Default Will try the Sonus Fabers

Thanks for all the tips. I do not think she'll go for the other colors or the visit to the store.

I'll try the Sonus Fabers

Since you'll be looking at Sonus Faber, highly recommend you also take a look at Dali speakers. Several models to choose from that have excellent sound and beautiful finishes, especially the Epicon series. There is a good chance this line would meet the WAF test.

I believe our friend, Masterlu, is a Dali dealer as well.

Peter - maybe you could go with a little shock and awe, then dial it back to your tastes......tell here that you've decided against the Wilsons but have decided on a pair of Marten Coltrane Supreme 2s :

The challenge of a system in a shared space is that both of you need to like both the sound and the appearance. Convincing your wife to go along for auditions is a good start. My wife came with me to audition Wilson, SF, and a couple of others, and thankfully we both have similar tastes, so we easily agreed on the look and sound of our Amati Futuras. As Marc points out, there are lots of options out there. Getting your wife engaged in the process will help.

PeterMusic.......Take your wife to look at some real coffins. It might change her perspective. Adjusting her attitude could be beneficial for both of you.

A bit more background: These would replace B&W CM-1's, powered by an NAD C 326BEE. Schiit Yggdrasil is the source, so I'd probably switch the the C2600 for a C22. I tried B&W 805 D3--figuring their visual closeness to the CM-1 would get the OK--but I was disappointed. Too analytical for my ear, they just didn't move me.

Does anyone have a recommendation for speakers with the same character as the Sabrinas, but in a more conservative enclosure?

Thanks!
Oh, boy. Sorry to hear that. That's why I love having my system in the basement where its aesthetics does not clash with the main rooms in the house.

It's funny, Wilson's have been compared to trash cans for a long time... Now coffins. Progress? Or not... Lol.

Hopefully you find something you like as much or more or you will constantly be wishing you could of got the Sabrinas.

The Sabrina is really unimposing in real life and should be able to work in pretty much any room. IMO

How about a different room where you have a say?
