No, it's not a pittance for me either. I hurt a little every time I get something, but the screens are a fraction of the cost of new speakers that you will like as much as what you have. You have great speakers. If the screens do in fact require replacement, maintenance or repair, you should do it.

This is the snippet from the email I received from ML Customer support:

"Generally speaking, panels need to be replaced every 10-15 years or more. Our service team has the parts available and can certainly walk you through the repair. The cost of SL3 panels is $1302 for the pair plus shipping."

Now, doing a little arithmetic, $650 x 2 = $1300. Maybe Melodie (what a great name for someone working at a speaker company)! quoted you a per-panel price?

Still, the cost of new screens on speakers you like and own is a small fraction of the cost of new speakers that you would like.

$1300 to maintain your speakers after a minimum of 10-15 year screen (stator) life is only $100 a year--is less than 30 cents a day. I'm certain they give you much more pleasure than you could buy anywhere at that price. It sounds like a bargain to me.

Here is the e-mail that I received:

Hello,

Thanks for the email. Replacement stats for the SL3 are $650.00 for the pair plus about $40.00 for freight. Please let us know if you would like to order them.

Thanks!

That's what I was quoted 3-4 years ago, and is in line with the $661 Magnapan quoted me to re-membrane and voice coil my mid/bass panels.
Regards,
Jim

Years ago I replaced the panels on my Monolith IIIx, long after the warranty period, and was not charged at all.

Hi George,
i might asked you some time ago but i´m not sure.
Do you recognize a noise from the active sub system of your Summit X?
Best to hear when amp´s are active but no music playing.
Some do hear the noise some not but i am sure that all of the Summit will have that problem. A technical expert, user of the same system here in Germany explained me the origin would be the cheap class D amplification of the bass segment.

I really like my Summit X, just ask for curiosity.
thanks
