Within a year, the social network Facebook will launch a new currency to be known as "Libra". Unlike other cryptocurrencies, Facebook Libra IS backed by a basket of bank deposits and short-term government securities.

As of the first quarter of 2019, Facebook had 2.38 billion monthly active users

Global Central Bankers no likey this idea.

I don't trust Facebook with my picture. I'm never going to trust them with my money.

No way in hell that will ever happen.

“The Switzerland-based Libra Association, a group composed of Facebook and its global corporate partners with an entry fee of $10 million, will be making all the governance decisions surrounding this new global currency.

Hughes, who left Facebook in 2007, tweeted on Friday that Libra is both “brilliant and frightening” because it shifts crucial power into the hands of private companies. In the Financial Times op-ed, he wrote:

Let us imagine that Libra works as planned. Hundreds of millions of people around the world will be able to send money across borders as easily as they send a text message. The Libra Association’s goals specifically say that ability will encourage “decentralised forms of governance”. In other words, Libra will disrupt and weaken nation states by enabling people to move out of unstable local currencies and into a currency denominated in dollars and euros and managed by corporations.”

“The U.S. Senate Banking Committee is set to scrutinize Facebook’s cryptocurrency ambitions at a hearing set for July 16, Reuters reported on Wednesday, in yet another sign that legislators are extremely wary (to put it mildly) of the company’s shift into global financial services.”

Based on FacePlant's track record and lies how could congress (or anyone) not be sceptical.

I can already wire money in any Countries currency around the World, from the comfort and safety of my BOA app.

Many of my Vendors require wire transfers in their local currency. I recently sent a large Euro wire to Germany for a fellow AA’r.
