Do any of you have an FM tuner in your system?
If yes, could you briefly describe the way it is being used: i.e. XM radio, FM antenna, cable TV connection, ... and/or other MANY THANKS!!! |

2-Channel.......I have four tuners, a McIntosh MR74, MR85, MR88, and a Sony ST-S730ES. I also have tuners in a McIntosh 4300V receiver, and a Sony V333ES Surround receiver. Each is in a different system, and all are used from time to time, primarily to listen to FM broadcasts. My MR88 has XM capability, and I have the antenna, docking station and card, although I haven't installed the XM antena yet. I understand that XM on the MR88 sounds really good. Once I have my antenna installed, I'll let you know.

I have two tuners, a McIntosh MR85, and a Sony HD Tuner.
I have them now both connected to an outdoor antenna with a splitter.

How does XM radio differ from cable radio? |

I've got 3 tuners. Polk Audio XRT 12 for XM which plays 24/7 in zone 2. The Marantz ST 17 for FM with a 50 ft tower. Lot's of good classical and blues stations in my area. Adcom FM tuner not hooked up but a nice sounding tuner. I listen to XM a lot and have discovered lots of great music.

You know I've not really done any comparsions but what time I've listened to the XM on my Direct HD equipment I feel the Polk XRT tuner sounds better.

2 here in my main system :
The MR77 with a simple "T cable" : sounds wonderful with a huge and detailed bass The Pioneers SC LX 81 AV amp / receiver : used for internet radio and Direct Neural THX internet radio. Funny to listen to. Extremely good for THX live sessions. But overall not the quality of the MR77. A few Tivoli Audio Pals in different rooms... Jérôme
