The KO1x is a SACD player and plays SACD from its transport without issue.
Dsd works for me using the USB port. Is that an option with the lumin?

Lumin has USB outputs but they won't play DSD thru the KO1x DAC from a NAS drive. What streamer are you using?

I use an Intel nuc. The k-01x is definitely capable of doing it, maybe there's something you need to do regarding the lumin. I have no experience with that.

My old KO5 and Levinson 585 DAC would not play DSD regardless of DAC or Lumin settings. After the last few posts I went into the Lumin set-up menu and reset the DSD settings for DSD. The KO1x is now decoding DSD via the coax input.

Lumin U1 or U1 MINI is designed to be compatible to K-01X DSD on both coaxial (DSD64) and USB (DSD128) inputs. In fact its compatibility with Esoteric DAC is equivalent to N-03T. Please make sure Volume Control is disabled in the Lumin app, and set Custom Re-sampling to OFF.

I have a Lumin customer with K-03X that is working, so there is no reason for K-01X to be not compatible. I'll help you if it's still not working for USB input, since you've already got coaxial working.

I'd like to reiterate that when you use coaxial input, please disconnect the USB cable from the Lumin.

The reason K-05 did not play DSD signal (instead of SACD) was that it was not supposed to. Its specs only state up to PCM 24/192 for digital inputs. It did not support DSD input from the digital inputs, even though it could internally perform PCM to DSD conversion.

To use Lumin with K-05 and play DSD file, you can configure the Lumin to convert DSD to PCM 176.4kHz to output via coaxial.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement!!! I will make the adjustments you suggested. I'm very happy with the performance of the coax input, is there an advantage to using USB? Also why disable Custom Re-sampling?

My KO5 was setup just as you mentioned and also worked fine for the 585's internal DAC, they were very close in performance. The KO1x was another story, performance was other-worldly, much-much better.

My dealer has mostly done Lumin models with internal DACs or the U1 mini into an Esoteric (stand alone) DAC. The Levinson 5805 has a newer, better DAC and plays DSD perfectly.

Once again thanks, Sincerely: Tom D.

For K-01X, the USB input can support DSD128, the coaxial input cannot support DSD128 but DSD64 only. For SQ, you may try both and see which sounds better to you. If you find coaxial to sound better and you do not have DSD128 music, then just keep using coaxial.

I suggested disabling of Custom Re-sampling just to make sure you're telling the Lumin to output DSD for DSD files, in case you have experimented with DSD-to-PCM conversion before due to K-05 PCM-only limitation.
