Great write-up Tim. Like audio servant I would loose the resistors. I didn't need them even though my room is relatively live. And get a set of real good jumpers - not those supplied with the speakers. Sound Anchors with Ultra SS's. The Sound Anchors allow you to lean the speakers forward without becoming tippy or unstable.

I hope all the guys concerned about Maggie bass read your report.

One addendum which I forgot...

Brass.
Miles trumpet was sublime. As Coltrane sat on the right side of the room playing 'bye bye blackbird'. Perfect size , timbre and attack. Sanborn on the album 'inside' - again very sweet sounding - you can hear the air in the sax. Tuba in swan lake was just so right. I noted a lot of brass in Abby road as well. I knew it was there before but REALLY knew it was there on the 20.7. Again probably from the lack of congestion in the presentation.

My son said 'these are texture machines'. I agree

I'm glad to hear Audio Consultants set up the 20.7s in the nicer room with the Boulder electronics and the dCS front-end. That's where they belong along with the Wilson speakers. When I heard them in Jan 2013, the 20.7s were in the adjacent room that is crowded with too much other gear.

So, did you place an order for them?
Hi Carlos. I have to wait for a coue of things. Completion of room , bonus in march. . But this is a no brainer

Got it.

It worked well for me because I had purchased the 3.7s from Audio Consultants and was able to trade them in for full-credit with 12 months to move up to the 20.7s. That was I was able to reduce the immediate cash outlay for the big dipoles.

I hope you can make it happen.

timm,

Your write up was excellent. I think I'll go back and read it again to experience the excitement one more time! I was having flash backs of my little 3.7i's while reading your review.

Lets hope Magnepan doesn't up their prices with all the talk about how great their speakers are and that they should be charging more.

~Mike

Just curious if a 20.7i might be in the pipeline...
Thinking about trading in my 3.7's for 20.7's, and wonder if patience might be rewarded..

Go for it.

No, there won't be a 20.7i. After Magnepan announcing about 3.7i, I requested my dealer to go ask Wendell when they were in Las Vegas last year about the same for 20.7's.

They also just posted about your concern in the 20.7's page: Magnepan
